The Nokia 8208 was expected to go to countries like China and India, as the Finnish mobile phone maker officially announced upon unveiling the CDMA device, yet it seems that it will also become available on the United States market, given the fact that it has just been approved by FCC as Nokia RM-384.

The handset comes with a dual-slide design and resembles a lot the company's Nseries smartphones. Though it is not certain if it will indeed come to the US, it is rather great to hear that Nokia has changed its mind, and the FCC approval might be followed by the release of the handset with one of the country's wireless carriers.

What the dual-slider can offer users includes a 2.2-inch display that can provide a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, as well as support for 16 million colors, the Nokia S40-like user interface, a 3-megapixel photo snapper with flash and video recording capabilities, not to mention the external music keys.

The specification list of the phone also shows GPS capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity with A2DP and EDR, a 3.5mm headset jack and FM Radio, along with 150MB of internal memory and a MicroSD memory card slot that can provide support for up to 16GB of additional storage space. The handset comes with a battery able to offer up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 11 days of standby time. When it comes to its dimensions, the Nokia 8208 measures 101 x 45.2 x 15.9 millimeters and weighs 126.3 grams.

As you can see, there are a lot of goodies coming along with the Nokia 8208 dual-slider, so it should see a lot of traction on the US market if released. Given the fact that it has recently launched a series of Nokia phones, Verizon is one carrier that might add the 8208 to its offering as well, though nothing is certain at this moment.
