Evernote and NTT DoCoMo have recently announced a partnership to bundle the Evernote app to all Android smartphones and tablets retailed by NTT DoCoMo. This is one of the most important partnership agreements signed by Evernote, as DoCoMo is Japan’s largest mobile carrier.

The joint-venture between the two companies has been announced during DOCOMO's annual press event in Tokyo last week. According to the agreement, all Android devices sold by DOCOMO will be delivered with the Evernote app preinstalled, as well as one year of Evernote Premium acces.

Evernote is a suite of apps for taking notes and archiving. A „note“ can be a piece of formattable text, a full webpage or webpage excerpt, a photograph or a voice memo.

These notes can have file attachments and they can be sorted into folders, tagged, annotated, edited, given comments and searched.

“The past week has been one of records and milestones here at Evernote. Today, we’re excited to share the details of a new partnership unlike anything we have ever done. Evernote has partnered with DOCOMO, Japan’s largest mobile carrier, to deliver Evernote and one year of Evernote Premium to all of their Android customer,” said Andrei Sinkov Vice President, Marketing Evernote.

Furthermore, every DOCOMO Android customer who purchases his or her device before May 2011 will be able to upgrade to Evernote Premium for free. Users who bought their Android devices before the announcement are still eligible for the offer.

These days, we’re all mobile customers on some carrier somewhere in the world, yet few of us would claim to have much affection for our carrier. It’s forward-thinking companies like DOCOMO that are in a position to change that,” continued Sinkov.

“By offering subscribers value in new and unexpected ways, carriers are able to differentiate themselves from the competition while building a positive relationship with subscribers. We’d love to see more of it,” added Sinkov.

Customers who already purchased or upgraded to Evernote Premium before the announcement will receive an additional year added to their current subscription.
