Andrei Dumitrescu: We're headed for a three day weekend here, on account of the Assumption of Mary on August 15, so I will have one more day than normal to immerse myself in pop culture and video gaming.

On the other hand I plan to take a trip to the seaside this weekend and actually spend most of the time I have there in the water and on the hot sand, which will mean less gaming than usual.

I also don't plan on taking any digital device bigger than a smartphone with me, which means that I will probably subsist on thin gruel of Angry Birds and Game Dev Story, which I have not tried before but only heard good things about.

I might also succumb to a late night bout of browsing the Apple Store late on Saturday but if I make it past that critical point I plan to keep strong and return to video games only on Monday, when I will fire up some Civilization IV, with the Dune mod installed, and I might continue my brother powered competitions in Need for Speed.

Andrei Dobra: This extended weekend will be filled with last minute preparations for next week's Gamescom 2011 conference but, in between packing bags and loading up all the gear required for our in-depth coverage, I'll certainly make some time for a couple of lightweight games: Limbo and Edge, both on the PC.

First up, I've heard a lot about Limbo and my short experience with the game on the Xbox 360 platform definitely left me curious for more black and white adventures. I'll probably get a bit frustrated on some of the puzzles towards the end of the game, but it's quite a fun experience, even if it's a bit too gloomy for my taste.

Luckily, I also have Edge, the sharp puzzle platformer game that has finally made its way onto the Steam platform. In the game you need to guide a cube through all sorts of environments and making sure you make it out safely together with all the collectibles hidden in the levels is quite a daunting task, so I'm really looking forward to the challenge.
