Killzone 2 drops

The United Kingdom has fallen and the United States (or should I say the Thirteen Colonies?) are next in line for Empire: Total War, the strategy game developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA.

In its first week on sale, the title sits atop the UK videogame chart, managing to take last week's number one, Sony's PlayStation 3 exclusive Killzone 2, down to number two, which is actually a pretty bad sign for the long term appeal of the first person shooter supposed to re-kindle the dwindling sales of the PS3.

With the top two places taken over by non Nintendo products, Wii Fit managed to salvage the honor of the Wii by climbing up to the third sport from being fourth last week. Ubisoft must also be pretty pleased with the fact that Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X., an arcade flight simulator, is sitting at number four in its first week of retail. The top five is completed by Halo Wars, the Microsoft and Ensemble Studios made real time strategy title that is set to expand the Halo universe, sadly without any appearance from Master Chief.

The first Nintendo DS game in the United Kingdom chart is Professor Layton and the Curious Village, while Street Fighter IV went down four places, from three to seven, proving that the fighting game from Capcom can lose a battle.

FIFA 09 from EA Sports is also continuing to sit in the top ten, while Call of Duty: World at War from Activision and Treyarch has managed to only lose one place at number nine. Ben 10: Alien Force manages to close up the top ten. There will be no big releases in the next few weeks, so expect the sales chart to remain pretty much unchanged in the coming period.
