14 DAY TRIAL // In March this year, news broke that Eddie Cibrian and singer turned actress LeAnn Rimes were having an affair as they were shooting for the television film “Northern Lights.” Both stars denied any wrong-doing to their respective spouses, saying their relationship had been misconstrued in the media, but Brandi Glanville, Cibrian’s wife, has had enough and wants a divorce, as she says in a statement to Us Weekly.
The US mag is the same that also broke the story of the affair by making public a tape shot while the two were on a clandestine date. Still, Glanville explains, the Rimes liaison was only the straw that broke the camel’s back, since other reports of Eddie’s wandering eye had also emerged earlier this year, which the actor duly denied. The couple will now be spending some time apart, in the best interest of the two children they have together.
“Eddie and I have decided to take some time apart. I want to do what is best for our children. Eddie and LeAnn [Rimes] deserve each other.” Glanville tells the mag. With that last part of the statement, Brandi takes another shot at Rimes, whom she has also accused in the past of “stalking” her husband to the detriment of both families involved – since Rimes too is married, although she does not have any children yet.
As per Us Weekly, the Cibrian-Rimes affair did not end the moment word of it got out in the press, which might have led to Glanville finally making the decision to ask for a separation. “According to Us Weekly, the final straw came after Cibrian, 36, and Rimes, 26, were caught again together in the early afternoon of July 17 – four months after Usmagazine.com broke the news of their affair – outside the Malibu home of Jeff Berger, a longtime friend of the singer and her husband, Dean Sheremet. (News of Cibrian having another affair – with 24-year-old model Scheana Marie Jancan – also broke earlier this same month.)” the mag writes in the latest issue.
Fans will certainly remember that, not long ago, a very harsh exchange of words between Glanville and Rimes played out in the media, with the former saying LeAnn was stalking Cibrian, and the latter issuing a statement pointing out Glanville was just looking to talk trash to get her name in the newspapers.
