Wyck Godfrey spills the beans on the romance everybody’s been talking about

Back when Oprah Winfrey did the Eclipse Special in May this year, the world held its breath for hours in the hope that it would also include a confirmation that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were an item. It didn’t, despite what tabloids had learned from “reliable” sources. Perhaps it wasn’t meant to happen – because the two have just been outed by Wyck Godfrey, the producer on “Eclipse,” in an interview with Time magazine.

This is not the first time that someone involved in the “Twilight” franchise has a slip of the tongue to confirm the rumor that’s been driving fans and the media crazy for the past couple of years or so, namely that Pattinson and Stewart are an item in real life as well. Godfrey, as far as he’s concerned, is only interested in the stars’ personal life only because of how it could affect the franchise as a whole. In fact, should they break up, “Twilight” would have plenty to lose, he fears.

“Everyone is talking about whatever is going on between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Is that good for business?” Time asks. “Do you want the honest answer? I haven’t even thought of it that way. It really is. I honestly don’t think of it in terms of business. It doesn’t affect our core business at all. The thing I do think about is, Oh my God, I hope they stay together. Because it could be awkward on set in the next movie if they have a huge falling out. It’s like, Wow, they have to portray this love story through two more movies. God, I hope they stay together; please stay together. That’s what affects my day-to-day,” the producer goes on to say.

Aside from being interested in the romance strictly from a professional perspective, Godfrey also believes its novelty is starting to wear off. “I don’t feel it’s out there anymore. Do people still report on it? If you look at people who have a stable personal life, the rags get tired of them. I think we’re heading to that place where they are together and that’s their life and we better find someone new to create drama out of,” he says, confident the day is near when the media will no longer cover the Pattinson – Stewart romance.

Still, to be fair, there are absolutely no signs that the media frenzy is starting to abate, especially given the recent contradictory reports. While those directly involved, meaning Robert and Kristen, continue to deny they’re more than co-workers and close friends, the tabloids are having a field day with various unnamed sources confirming they’re an item. Moreover, some even claim they have it from Pattinson himself that he’s dating Kristen, which only makes matters even more confusing for fans.
