Take them to the game

EA Sports is inviting gamers to access the official Facebook page of the all-new NBA Jam in order to vote on the one liners that they would like to see included in the videogame when it is launched exclusively on the Nintendo Wii at some point during the fall of this year.

There are 64 phrases players can choose from, selected by publisher Electronic Arts from the over 3,000 that were submitted by fans of the videogame in just a few days. All of them can be viewed on the official Facebook page and those interested can listen to each narrated by Tim Kitzrow.

There are four different Brackets for the finalists, all named after classic lines from the old NBA Jam, like “Kaboom,” “He's On Fire,” “Monster Jam” and “Slam-A-Jamma.” On Mondays, the brackets will be updated with winners, losers and new match ups until no more than 4 lines remain, with their inclusion in the fresh NBA Jam assured by developer EA Canada.

NBA Jam will keep the visual style of its classic inspiration, with 3D bodies for the players and high definition photographs used to model the heads of the stars that will face off on the court. The gameplay is also expected to resemble that of the old game, with over the top moves specific for each player added and with the flaming ball also making a return. Both Larry Bird and Earvin "Magic" Johnson have been confirmed by EA Sports as making appearances in NBA Jam.

The title is part of an effort from Electronic Arts to create gaming experiences that embrace the casual nature of the Nintendo Wii platform while also delivering engaging gameplay and novel ideas. It remains to be seen whether the new game can capture the over the top insanity of the old NBA Jam.
