Mass Effect 3 has just received an official release date during Electronic Arts' E3 press conference, as well as a batch of new screenshots and details about a limited N7 Collector's Edition.

Mass Effect 3 is leading the charge of triple-A games that will be published by EA, with the title, currently in development at BioWare, promising to be one of the most anticipated games of the next year.

Now, after a pretty sad delay, which pushed the game back from its intended release later this year into 2012, both EA and BioWare have now revealed a concrete release date for Mass Effect 3, which arrives on March 6, 2012.

“With Mass Effect 3, we are delivering blockbuster action and heart-wrenching emotion on a scale that far exceeds anything we’ve ever done before,” said Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series. “This is an all-out galactic war and how you choose to lead and play will ultimately determine how – and if – you can save the galaxy.”

In order to really raise the enthusiasm of players, the two companies have also released details about a very special Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector's Edition, which will include lots of bonus items, including a Dark Horse Comic Book, a hardcover art book, an exclusive extended soundtrack, a special lithograph and an exclusive N7 patch.

In terms of in-game items, special appearance packs for your squad mates, as well as access to the N7 Arsenal Pack, which includes four tactical guns exclusive for this edition of the game, are included in the N7 Collector's Edition, which is now available for pre-order at participating retailers, as well as from EA's new Origin digital store, for $79.99 in limited quantities.

Last but not least, the game has also got a few new screenshots, which can be found below and showcase the hero, Commander Shepard, taking on enemy forces alongside squad mates like Garrus or Liara.
