Earlier this month, a report emerged saying that the condition of Dennis Hopper, who had been battling cancer for almost a decade, had deteriorated so much he was already saying his good-byes to his family and friends. Also as a step towards preparing himself for his final day, the actor has filed for divorce from his wife of 14 years, Victoria Hopper, the Huffington Post reports.

The two have been married for the past 14 years and together for 18. Victoria is Dennis’ fifth wife and together they have a daughter aged six. Never throughout their marriage was it heard that they were having problems and that was because they never had any. The divorce proceedings were initiated on financial considerations alone, a report by the aforementioned publication claims, in the sense that the dying Hollywood star is trying to keep Victoria out of his will, thus refusing her her part of his estate.

“Dennis Hopper, who is reportedly facing his ‘final days surrounded by family and friends,’ filed for divorce yesterday from his wife of 14 years, Victoria Hopper, the mother of their six-year-old daughter Galen,” the Post writes. No reason was given for the divorce. “Adding to the confusion, a family friend told Huffington Post that Hopper is mentally incapacitated from the enormous amounts of medication he is on given his state,” the publication adds.

As a source close to the star reveals, it’s all about the money and, most importantly, about who gets a share of it and who doesn’t. “It’s truly a tragedy, and sadly it’s all about the money and who inherits what. This is about getting Victoria out of the will, nothing more, nothing less,” the tipster dishes. “Hopper has three grown children, Marin, Henry and Ruthiana, although he reportedly has not spoken with Ruthiana in recent years. Both Marin, her daughter and Henry have lived for years in the same Venice, California compound as Dennis, Victoria and Galen and continue to do so at this juncture,” the Post further writes.

As of now, not even the fact that Dennis Hopper’s condition is so bad doctors have given up all hope has been confirmed. The report that he’s also seeking divorce is pending confirmation as well.
