14 DAY TRIAL // Apogee Software has finally announced that it will be publishing its long-awaited Duke Nukem title for the Nintendo DS handheld, in the form of Duke Nukem: Critical Mass.
We've been hearing quite a lot of things about the Duke Nukem franchise, largely because of the recent delay of the infamous Duke Nukem Forever.
Now, Apogee Software has decided to benefit from the Duke hype, and has announced that it will finally be launching its Duke Nukem: Critical Mass title for the Nintendo DS handheld platform.
Originally announced as the Duke Nukem Trilogy, and scheduled to appear on both the DS and PSP, the game entered a shroud of mystery and was unheard of for quite some time.
It surfaced once because Apogee ran into some problems with the Duke Nukem license, even going so far as to announce a drastic change, naming the title Extraction Point: Alien Shootout.
Now, things are back to normal and the company has revealed to Joystiq that it will finally launch Duke Nukem: Critical Mass on April 8, in Europe, and sometime in May in North America, only for the DS.

"Concerned that no recon mission has returned from the future, the Earth Defense Force is sending their best man, Duke Nukem to find out what is going on and to bring the team home. Duke arrives in the future only to find aliens now rule the world with an iron fist, and worst of all they are conducting experiments on earth’s most valuable resource – its women! Duke is hell bent on saving the babes and completing his mission and in the process discovers he is the reason why earth was invaded," revealed Apogee.
From the screenshots that you can check out below, it seems that Duke Nukem: Critical Mass will be an old school 3D shooter, much like the very first Duke Nukem titles, except this time, it's a third-person view, instead of a first-person one, so check them all out.
