Wireless services provider T-Mobile is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new series of highly appealing devices for its users, and the Samsung ‘Hercules’ would be one of them.

Packing a dual-core application processor inside, the new device should arrive at the wireless carrier as an upgraded Samsung Infuse 4G, capable of delivering better performance than the already launched device.

The new smartphone is not official as of now, but it might not be too long before it arrives on shelves with a Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual-core APQ8060 application processor inside, rumor has it.

It's rather interesting that Samsung chose to pack the smartphone with a Qualcomm chip, since it already has dual-core Exyno CPUs on the market.

Other specifications of this device would include 1GB of RAM, complemented by 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

One of the most appealing features of the new device would be the large 4.5-inch 480 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus display it might reportedly sport when made available for purchase.

At the same time, it should include an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a secondary camera on the front for video calling.

The smartphone is also expected to arrive on shelves with HSPA+ connectivity on board - Category 24 HSDPA (42Mbps) and Category 6 HSUPA (5.76Mbps), as well as with NFC support.

The handset would sport AWS plus 850 / 1900MHz compatibility for AT&T's network, which would prove a great feature if the merger between the two carriers is approved.

The smartphone would measure 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches and should arrive on shelves with an MHL port to provide users with USB and HDMI connectivity.

The same as Samsung Galaxy S II, the new device would be powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Rumor has it that the new mobile phone would be included in the “over $350” category of smartphones, though this might be the price with the mail-in rebate included, or the off-contract cost.

As stated above, nothing was officially unveiled on this device as of yet, but it is expected to complete testing in T-Mobile's labs something in August, which means that it should not be too long before more info on it becomes available, so keep an eye on this space for more on it.
