14 DAY TRIAL // Senuti is a simple yet powerful utility for Mac OS X that transfers music from your iPod or iPhone to your computer. You can copy single songs, albums, playlists or the entire music library, if you prefer.
By default, iDevices don't allow their owners to transfer music back to their computer. With Senuti, they can.
Before using Senuti, users must ensure that iTunes automatic syncing is disabled.
To do this, users must launch iTunes with their iPod disconnected, open the iTunes preferences and select the Devices tab, and tick the preference to prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically.
Senuti can copy files back to your computer anywhere you tell it to. The setup assistant lets you select that location. The developers suggest your iTunes Music Library, but note that "Senuti is not required or intended for transferring Apple iTunes purchases."
You can automatically add songs to iTunes through Senuti by simply selecting the option to do so.
Songs that are already in iTunes will appear with a blue dot next to them, so you don’t end up with unnecessary duplicates.
Unlike other solutions that aid users in ripping music from their iDevices, Senuti runs in trial mode for 30 full days and allows users to copy as many as 1000 songs from any iPod or iPhone to their computer.
A new version is out now - Senuti 1.2.4 - with improved iTunes compatibility, and over half a dozen fixes relating to copying files on certain versions of Snow Leopard, adding ringtones to iTunes, rare crashes when unplugging an iOS device, copying songs with the same titles, and even copying eBooks.
Although compatible with Leopard and Snow Leopard, Senuti still works with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
It’s also a Universal Binary, meaning both PowerPC and Intel CPU architectures are supported. In short, if you have an ancient G4 Power Mac, you’re good to go with Senuti.
