Available for both Mac and PC, Diablo II is the sequel to the game Diablo, a dark, fantasy-themed, action, role-playing game (RPG) played in four acts. It was released for Mac OS X in 2000, under the publishing label of Blizzard Entertainment, while the development was handled by Blizzard North. Diablo II was easily one of the most popular titles in 2000, thanks to its addictive, hack-and-slash gameplay and free access to Battle.net. Diablo II can be played both online and in single player.

In September 2009, a Battle.net update signed Bashiok (Blizzard poster) revealed that Blizzard was gearing up for a Diablo II ladder reset coinciding with the release of the 1.13 patch. “We don’t have a final release date,” Bashiok said at the time, “[...] but we’re providing early warning as a reset could occur as early as the end of April. We’ll be providing updates with more certain dates once the patch is closer to release.” The patch was to be delayed.

Fast-forward to this day, Blizzard Entertainment has finally announced that the long-awaited Diablo II 1.13 patch will be available on March 23rd. As promised, the company will also be resetting the Diablo II ladders, in tandem with the patch release. According to the makers of World of Warcraft, all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder status.

“We will be resetting the Diablo II ladder on March 23 with the release of patch 1.13,” Blizzard’s latest Diablo II announcement, posted by the same Bashiok, reads. “We anticipate all Diablo II realms to be down for approximately six hours during the reset. More specific information on realm availability on the day of the reset will be posted in the Battle.net Status forum. When the ladder is reset, all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as creating ladder-only rune words. For more information on ladder characters please visit the Arreat Summit Realm Character Types page,” the Blizzard poster concludes, directing gamers to that very location.
