It's rare for the developers who have worked on a high profile video game to criticize it soon after launch and it's even rarer to see one of the top game creators say that one element of the experience he helped direct is not up to his standards.

But speaking in the latest issue of the magazine Play, Jean-Francosi Dugas, who is the game director working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, has stated, “I’d be lying if I said the AI meets all of our expectations but I think it’s normal that every developer has something they’d like to do differently.”   He added, “That being said, when you look at the type of game we’re making, where stealth and combat need to cohabit as naturally as possible, I think overall gamers will be satisfied with what we did. It’s not perfect but it makes for interesting gameplay situations.”

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a very complex game and the Artificial Intelligence that powers the world and directs its characters has a lot to grapple with.

The main problem is that players have enough freedom to affect the world in many ways and it can be difficult for the game to find the appropriate response every time.

Despite the Artificial Intelligence regrets that Jean-Francosi Dugas has, the game, which has been published by Square Enix and was created at the Montreal studio of Eidos, has so far received very good reviews, currently showing a Metacritic average that is close to 90.

Human Revolution is set as a prequel to the classic Deus Ex game and the core concept behind the experience is choice and consequences.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already available in North America and will arrive in Europe on Friday and players are able to pick it up on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
