Publisher Square Enix has announced that Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the mix between action and adventure that was initially supposed to be launched on March 15, 2011, has been pushed into the company's next fiscal year, which is slated to begin on April 1, 2011.

At best this means that the new Deus Ex title might arrive in late spring or during the pretty sparse launch period of summer, while the worst case scenario might see it pushed back into early 2012.

A statement from publisher Square Enix reads, “We have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year.”

The company also delivers an explanation for the move, saying “With weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year as well as harsh market feedback regarding a key title, the Group recognizes the reinforcement of development capability in our Digital Entertainment segment as our most critical managerial issue.”

The above paragraph suggests that Square Enix is feeling the pressure of the negative comments that have popped up after the hard landing suffered by the MMO Final Fantasy XIV and is concerned about putting out Deus Ex while the development team working on it can still deliver a layer of polish.

The problem is that the statement also suggests that the Montreal Studio of Eidos, which is working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, has not been doing a very good job on the new game.

Human Revolution is set before the original Deus Ex game and will feature a world where mechanical augmentations are the norm, complete with conspiracy theories and shadowy organizations.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is set to be delivered on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and through OnLive.
