As Kelly Rowland’s solo career is slowly but definitely moving into a different direction, having already split from both her manager and her longtime record label, fans have new hope to cling onto. Word in the industry has it that Kelly, Beyonce and Michelle Williams will be coming back together as Destiny’s Child for a new album, because they’re contractually bound to do so, as gossip blogger Perez Hilton informs.
Perez, as some of you may know, is not usually the most adequate source in terms of language for always making his posts biased. He is, though, the most well-connected blogger in the US, which makes it so that hardly anything occurs without him learning about it. As it happens, he has just learned that Destiny’s Child, the group that literally wrote the book on girl bands in the ‘90s, is on route to making music again. Apparently, though, this will not be a reunion for the love of money, or for the love of music for that matter. Quite on the contrary, as the three former ex-mates are contractually bound to the record label to deliver another music album, which they will be doing in 2011, most likely, once Beyonce wraps up her tour and promotion for her own album, Perez says. “They still have another album they owe their label, Columbia Records, on their contract.” a well-placed insider tells Perez. As of now, neither Columbia nor a publicist for the girls has confirmed the rumor. Come to think of it, fans opine on dedicated forums, this could be the best thing that might happen to Kelly and Michelle. Although both are just as talented as Beyonce is, they have had a harder time breaking onto the market, despite repeated efforts from both. Kelly, for instance, ended her contract with Columbia precisely on account of the fact that she was “no longer commercially viable,” as reports in the media said a short while back – which, in other words, means she was fired. Of course, a Destiny’s Child reunion is just wishful thinking at this point, other music-oriented publications point out, but that does not mean that it is not likely to happen in the near future. If so, the first details should emerge any day now. For more on this, keep an eye on this space.

| Comment #1 by: tutu on 08 Apr 2009, 21:22 UTC | reply to this comment | it is ashamed how kelly n michelle cant have an equal shot at stardom. it is 2 late. beyonce will go down in history as an icon, and as one of the greatest female performers this world has ever seen. she commands the stage and quite frankly, she has gotten more opportunites than kelly n michelle. if i were them i would have left dc a long time ago. if beyonce had no group, then she would not have had a foundation to stand on. then maybe she wouldnt be the mega-success she is today. i thinkt that they both should be marketed equally and given equal respect even though they have waited their entire careers to do so. |
| Comment #1.1 by: lucy on 14 Jan 2010, 23:36 GMT | Just because kelly and michelle didnt have solo success didnt mean they had the chance to, Beyonc e worked hard at becoming what she is today and ofcourse dc is the foundation for that. Becoming one of the worlds greatest artist of all time isnt something she just got the chance to do unlinke the others, its something she strived for and worked her butt off for! kelly and michelle done what they wanted to do after the split and so did beyonce. Ive seen Beyonce live. she deserves all the credit she gets, she truely the best female artist ever lived. Her vocals are unbelievable and her stage presence is undescribable. Shes amazing. |
| Comment #1.2 by: pglass on 11 Jan 2011, 15:32 GMT | I agree with both of you. Beyonce is great but Beyonce also had a number of better connections than Kelly and Michelle. That's Beyonce is more successful than the other two, she just had better supporters and more of them. From the moment DC stepped into the spotlight, Beyonce overshadowed the rest because she had her whole family backing her up in every aspect of the business. None of the other girls had that. |

| Comment #2 by: KY on 26 Jan 2010, 20:51 UTC | reply to this comment | @lucy I agree with you 100% I get tired of everyone trying to put the blame on Beyonce for Kelly and Michelle's careers not getting to that level. When the group broke up and decided to go solo they all had the chance to go solo and prove if they could be successful on there own. Beyonce worked extra hard to get where she is at. I as well saw Beyonce live 3 times and her voice is beyond amazing. She hits the high notes, the mid notes, the low notes, and has full control over her voice, and takes command of the stage (not to say kelly and Michele can't sing). Also Letoya one of the original members of DC has got alot of success as a solo artist, and the reason being is because she worked hard for it. If there wasn't a DC and Beyonce only came out as a solo artist she would still be an icon because she is a amazing singer. Kelly and Michele can be good solo artists as well but they need to find there genre. Michele came out as a gospel singer and had the #1 gospel CDs, then she changed to R&B/techno on her last cd and it didn't do so well. Kelly's last cd was good but could of been better and needed to really show the world who she is. But I would love for them to come back together and do another album, they were the best female group. If they do come back I hope the put there all into it and not just do it because they have to finish their contract. |

| Comment #2.2 by: zippolynn on 10 Jul 2011, 06:29 GMT | I'm absolutely in love with Beyonce. I loved Destiny's Child back in the day. But in all honesty Beyonce was the voice of the group. Kelly and Michelle were her back-up singers. Yes they deserve their chance at success and Kelly is working on it. But Beyonce has the diva personna. That's what America wants! |
| Comment #3 by: Whawhaw on 28 Jan 2010, 18:24 UTC | reply to this comment | Yeah they will go down in history.as the best selling female group that ever stayed together. But beyonce will loose her fames.in the long run.then the other two will rise up to the top. They all are great girls.and all have a special gift. That will follow ther to there graves. But they will do fine as a group. They always have |
| Comment #4 by: Amanda on 25 Feb 2010, 02:05 UTC | reply to this comment | Beyonce is not a success. Her DADDY is the one helping her to PRETEND that she writes lyrics and gets her name on the credits for extra cash. She also steals other artists songs! Beyonce is only the illusion that her daddy tries to make us believe. The fact that she runs around and tells people that she was the LEAD singer of Destinys child is false. She was just given special treatment from her dad, so she FELT like the lead. Michelle has the best voice ever! It's so unique and Kelly is amazing. However, not only did Beyonce's dad give her special treatment, her MOMMY made the best and most form fitting costumes for her!!! Beyonce NEEDED michelle ad Kelly more than they needed her. I don't care if Beyonce has 50 grammys when all is said and done because ONE grammy that is actually deserved is worth more than the FAKE ones that she earns...haha! Earns? Please, I don't even know how she can give an acceptance speech?? What a joke. Michelle and Kelly BETTER not get dragged back into destiny child to record their last album. It will only happen when they both get successful and Beyonce and her mommy AND daddy will feel threatened. Beyonce will FADE because soon everyone will see and nobody will trust her and want to work with her. People aren't going to by Mathew Knowles crap anymore either since he is almost 60 and making kids with random women. NOBODY will trust him either. |
| Comment #4.1 by: Prince Royce on 24 Jan 2011, 20:25 GMT | Amanda.... you must seriously be like 13 to think in such a manner... It's ridiculous to think She's fake and that her dad is the one that put her on top like that.
Being a lead singer helps, But She fits the personality for it. |
| Comment #4.2 by: Tayss on 22 Aug 2011, 11:00 GMT | I slightly agree with Amanda, Beyonce did get abit of extra spotlight because her dad was the manager, In all the DC songs I have heard Beyonce takes the lead and Kelly and Michelle are just in the background. But in Emotions Michelle has abit of the lead near the end, but it isnt long. But the song Girl is where ALL of them get near a fair amount of singing and in that song you could actually say the groups called 'Destiny Child' and not 'Beyonce and Destiny Child'. But Beyonce has definitely earned her solo career with her own hard work! But In DC she did get treated differently from the rest whhat is totally unfair but in all Groups there is always the one person who is considered the 'Leader'. |
| Comment #5 by: Fanche on 05 Apr 2010, 17:14 UTC | reply to this comment | I would absolutely love to see a Destiny's Child Reunion, but I have been surfing the net for hours, days and months and I believe that a reunion is very likely...
...but not with Michelle.
Beyonce and Kelly are both friends with original member LeToya again, and LeToya is still friends with LaTavia. Beyonce bumped into LeToya backstage of BETs and Kelly now follows LeToya on Twitter. LeToya performed a DC medley of 'Bills, Bills, Bills', 'No, No, No' and 'Say My Name' and also follows Kelly back on Twitter.
Through all of this re-kindling of friendships, where's Michelle? She's on Broadway and has said straight out 'NO' to a DC reunion many times. At most she had a sleepover with Kelly...
WOW! (sarcasm) LOL.
Point being, I definitely see a DC reunion in the near future with the original line-up (with or without Michelle, who knows?) :) |
| Comment #6 by: darkaexii on 14 May 2010, 05:29 UTC | reply to this comment | I am totally excited to know that _DC will emerge back onto the music world Kelly first album was hot and Michelle has great success in the gospel in dustry these are strong women. | Comment #8 by: mike on 27 Aug 2010, 12:35 UTC | reply to this comment | will destiny child gt back to though in 2o11 an whn will the new albem be out in stors |
| Comment #9 by: Lucy on 30 Aug 2010, 18:54 UTC | reply to this comment | Amanda. beyonces 'DADDY' may of helped her do whatever you said, but beyonce works what shes doing. Shes the icon and shes the one with the talent. Nobodys helping her fake anything, the evidence is there when she goes on stage. Its what she was born to do, if shes not a lyric writer fair enough. But its evident shes a singer, dont bring beyonce's family problems into this, thats got nothing to do with her being one of the worlds best entertainers. i think somebodies jealous because its clear shes an icon. |

| Comment #12 by: M.B on 28 Jun 2011, 05:18 UTC | reply to this comment | If there's going to be a reunion it needs to be with original members Letoya, Latavia, Kelly , Beyonce & Michelle. A album and world tour would be awsome. One last time. They all have plenty of time for their solo careers. But the window of opprotunity to assemble as a group is closing if it hasn't already. And it's what all their fans would love to hear and see. What they need to do is listen and act.

| Comment #13 by: evian on 11 Nov 2011, 17:18 UTC | reply to this comment | Destiny's Child did not write the book on 90's girl bands... what about TLC, Salt 'N Pepa, SWV, En Vogue, Xscape... definitely more "90's" and TLC were bigger and had a much stronger cultural impact than Destiny's Child! |
| Comment #13.1 by: dee on 11 Feb 2012, 05:44 GMT | I was about to say the same thing I'm 27 and still listen to all of the groups you listed, I didn't listen to destiny's child in the 90's I didn't relate to them but for me TLC were the best girl group and En Vogue those ladies had voices that could have blown any member in destiny's child out of the water | |
