14 DAY TRIAL // Rumors have been talking about The Taken King as the new expansion for Destiny that Bungie and Activision are working on, and now the name seems to have been confirmed by a promotional campaign run by Red Bull.
The image from NeoGAF shows that the company is offering those who pick up its products a code that can be used to get access to an experience boost in the social shooter at any point and to a special quest when the new content is introduced.
The Red Bull promotional campaign is not saying when The Taken King might be launched and what kind of content the team at Bungie will include in the expansion.
Bungie has not offered any official comment about the name confirmation.
Details might be offered during the coming E3 2015 event, but there's also a chance that developers are currently more focused on improving the game experience offered by the recently introduced House of Wolves.
Destiny received the 1.2.0.2 update earlier today, just before the Iron Banner Player versus Player event was re-introduced for the shooter.
The development team is continuing to collect feedback from the players in order to get a clear look at the state of the title and deliver more tweaks shortly.
The Taken King might introduce entirely new environments
In May, Bungie registered the name of the new expansion, and a leak talked about the kind of content that gamers can look forward to.
It seems that there are plans to introduce the first entirely new environments since Destiny was launched in the fall of last year, which might mean that gamers will be able to explore another planet and battle new types of enemies.
Bungie has also been talking about the fact that it wants to add a new late game major raid, similar in scope to Crota's End and Vault of Glass.
It's unclear whether they are planning to introduce it as part of The Taken King or it will be released for free before the expansion arrives.
In the meantime, gamers can upgrade their Guardians with the new rewards that are available in the Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris modes.
