For prizes and glory

The idea of user generated content seems to be gaining more and more ground. And even videogaming, a domain which seemed to renegade players to create content only by modding and playing around with already released  games, is beginning to open up and involve fans more and more in the design phase. Recently we have seen Ubisoft asking players to help with Achievements and Media Molecule inviting people to design a SackBoy guaranteeing that the best one would make into their LittleBigPlanet videogame. Maybe we'll soon see players involved in the basic design stages, those that affect them the most.

Until that time comes, THQ is asking gamers to enter a contest related to its upcoming Red Faction: Guerrilla. The idea is that the developers seem to be missing one Achievement for the game, the last one in the multiplayer category and they are fresh out of good concepts so they are asking those interested in the game and its settings to submit possible ideas. You can do this by registering on the THQ and Volition forums for Red Faction: Guerrilla, where you can submit no more than three ideas per user. The contest runs until September 26 and the staff of the company will first pick five finalists and then vote for the best idea.

The four people who do not win will get a Volition T-shirt and a big shiny Red Faction poster but the big winner will also receive a copy of the Collector's Edition of the game and the bragging rights related to his Achievement/Trophy getting into the release.

The game is set, as the first two in the series, on Mars and the main character, Alec, will have to run, jump and shoot his way through the open world of Mars. The game will be played from a third person perspective and is scheduled for release sometime in 2009.
