At 47, Demi Moore looks considerably better than most women half her age – or so they say. The actress, whose image has often overshadowed her career in film, reveals for Elle UK magazine that, contrary to all appearances, it’s not until recently that she got to be happy with her body and to accept it as it was, having had a terrible obsession with it until then.

Speculation on how much plastic surgery Demi might have had is one of the tabloids’ favorite topics, especially since, if she had any, they were high-quality interventions and it’s very hard to point their results out. Badmouths say Moore spent a fortune to look this good, somewhere to the tune of half a million dollars – money well spent, for that matter. The star herself has repeatedly denied such claims, and her latest interview might actually come to corroborate her previous statements.

“I had an extreme obsession with my body. I made it a measure of my own value. I tried to dominate it, which I did, and I changed it multiple times over. But it never lasted and ultimately it didn’t bring me anything but temporary happiness,” Demi says. Where changing her body is concerned, the star also addresses rumors of plastic surgery, saying she had “something” done but not to her face. However, that’s not to say she rules out plastic surgery, though she does hope it will be long before she even considers it properly.

For the time being, she is more than happy with the way she looks and the body she has now, having realized thin might mean a lot in Hollywood, but not to her. “Does being thin resolve anything? No. The irony is that when I abandoned that desire to dominate my body, it actually became the body that I always wanted. But it only happened when I stopped trying to control it. At the end of the day, this kind of obsession is pointless and meaningless,” Demi explains.

In the same interview, the actress says that, while she and husband Ashton Kutcher share custody of the three daughters she has with ex Bruce Willis, she’d like to have a child by Ashton too. They haven’t made any plans in this direction yet, though, if it’s to happen, Demi is certain Ashton would handle fatherhood just as brilliantly as he does everything in their life as a couple.
