Computer maker Dell might soon come to the market with a new Android-based device, one that would sport similarities with the recently released Dell Venue Pro handset, which runs under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system.

The latter was made official a few weeks ago, when Microsoft announced the launch of various other Windows Phone 7 smartphones, and should arrive in the US on T-Mobile's airwaves, officially.

However, reports on its near availability on the UK market also emerged, with a supposed November release window and a £499.99 price tag included in the equation.

According to the latest rumors around the Web, the company might plan launching a new Venue Pro-like device, one that would run under Android, and not Windows Phone 7.

While Dell did not announce official plans to come to the market with a device similar with Venue Pro, but running under another mobile operating system, a recent article on PCWorld states it loud and clear.

“In the future the company also plans to launch a smartphone resembling the Dell Venue Pro based on Google's Android OS, though the company hasn't announced a release date for the product,” the news site said.

This wouldn't be the first device Dell brings to shelves with Google's Android operating system on board, but it appears to be the nicest of them all, at least until now.

Previously, the company released a 3.5-inch touchscreen phone, the Mini 3i, or Aero, as well as a 5-inch tablet PC, the Dell Streak.

However, if similar with the Dell Venue Pro, the upcoming mobile phone should pack a portrait-sliding QWERTY keyboard, complemented by a 4.1-inch touchscreen display.

The same as all other Windows Phone 7 devices, the Venue Pro includes a 1GHz processor inside.

Other specs of this mobile phone would include a 5-megapixel photo snapper, Gorilla Glass on the screen for enhanced durability, built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, support for 3G, and more.

Of course, nothing is official for the time being, and things might turn out differently when the handset is pushed out to the market, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
