Move power

Harmonix, the company which works with MTV Games to create the highly successful Rock Band franchise, is now trying to revolutionize dancing with its new project Dance Central, the motion tracking powered title that was shown off at the E3 trade show working with Kinect, the peripheral that Microsoft is set to launch for the Xbox 360 home console in November. But it seems that those who own a PlayStation 3 should not give up hope of enjoying Dance Central on their platform.

Speaking to Kotaku Alex Rigopulos, who is one of the co founders of Harmonix and one of the leading creative minds of the company, has said that his team is looking into whether the PlayStation Move system allows the same degree of control in Dance Central as Kinect. Initial reports are that it's possible to use both systems for the game, with the PlayStation Eye taking on the duties of the Kinect camera. Bringing the new game to the PlayStation 3 would expand the potential player base and will make Dance Central more of a success.

Bad news is coming to those who are using the Nintendo Wii as their gaming platform. Apparently there's no chance of making Dance Central compatible with the platform, probably because of the lack of a camera that can picture the player and then turn that into a graphical representation on a screen. Ubisoft already managed to sell a few copies of Just Dance for the Nintendo Wii and is working on a sequel.

Harmonix is quite a busy company at the moment. It has just launched Green Day: Rock Band, tracking the career of one of the most important punk rock bands of the era, and is working hard on Rock Band 3, a game that will allow for a more accurate guitar simulation and will bring in the keyboard into play for the first time in the series. There are also rumors of a Queen themed music game coming in 2011.
