When the first DROID by Motorola arrived on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, we were all pretty impressed by the marketing campaign the carrier had put in place. However, since the history tends to repeat itself, and since a new DROID is on its way to Verizon, namely the Motorola DROID X, a new marketing campaign seems to have been put in place, with the first video of what might be an impressive series available at the bottom of this article.

What we know so far on Motorola DROID X is that Verizon and Motorola are set to announce it officially on June 23, which is not further than tomorrow. At the same time, some of the previous rumors on the device suggested that it might become available for purchase in July, and the video teaser below seems to confirm exactly that, since one can read DROID X 07.2010 sometime close to its end.

The video is 16 seconds long, and it shows a close up of an eye that functions like a mirror for what appears to be a screen. When played frame by frame, the video unveils a series of “mirrored” technical specifications of Motorola DROID X, including the 4.3-inch touchscreen display that delivers a WVGA resolution, the HDMI output, or the 8-megapixel photo snapper.

At the same time, the video makes reference to a Twitter account, @DROIDLanding, which seems to offer info on a series of DROID X units hidden around the country, waiting for users to find them. As the guys over at Android Central found, the account's bio states the following: “The next generation of does is coming soon, but you might get yours before that. Droid X phones are hidden across the country. Follow us for clues.”

As for the first tweets from that account, here's what they read: “Droid X units have escaped! Get the stats on them at http://www.droiddoes.com. Forewarned is forearmed.” and “Droid designate #5 escaped secure location 6 hours and counting. Witnesses noticed it heading in a southern direction.” This seems to shape up as an interesting game for enthusiasts, that's for sure.
