On Monday, wireless carrier Verizon announced officially that it would make the DROID Pro by MOTOROLA smartphone available for purchase on its airwaves on November 18th, but it appears that the carrier already put it on sale on its website.

Priced at $179.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier, the DROID Pro can be purchased from Big Red's website here.

When announcing the phone's availability, the wireless carrier said that would make it available for pre-order starting today.

However, it appears that some lucky users already made purchases, and that the first units should arrive at their doorsteps overnight, at least this is what a recent article on Engadget reads.

Users interested in receiving the new smartphone in the very near future should head over to the wireless carrier's website here to check out now.

The DROID Pro by Motorola is being released at Verizon as the latest addition to the carrier's DROID offering.

Boasting a candybar form factor, the smartphone includes both a touchscreen display, as well as a QWERTY keyboard. The screen is 3.1-inch large and boasts a 480 x 320-pixel resolution.

The specifications list for this device includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and dual-LED flash, as well as with video recording capabilities.

Moreover, those who will purchase the phone will enjoy great connectivity options, with support for 3G networks, Wi-Fi and Buetooth, along with built-in GPS receiver.

The new handset comes with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, and offers support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 content.

Moreover, it also supports a wide range of Google Mobile Services, including Gmail, Search, Maps, YouTube and more, while offering users the possibility to install various applications via the Android Market.

As stated above, the handset is available at Verizon here, with a price tag of $179.99 attached to it, after a $100 mail-in-rebate and with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier.
