Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new software update for the high-end DROID Incredible by HTC smartphone. The new software solution is expected to land on handsets starting with the next week, and is aimed mainly at putting V CAST Apps on the handset.

The pre-loading of V CAST Apps shows Verizon's commitment to expand the availability of the solution to Google's Android operating system too.

“Verizon Wireless will begin pushing a software update to the DROID Incredible next week. The update includes software enhancements that will pre-install V CAST Apps on the phone,” the company announced.

“We said earlier this year that we’d be expanding V CAST Apps to the Android platform, and the DROID Incredible is the first Android phone with the store,” he carrier continued.

At the same time, the wireless services provider stated that developers would continue submitting their software solutions to the portal, just as before.

“V CAST Apps allows carrier billing, so customers who purchase applications through our store will see those charges on their monthly bill,” the company continued, Phandroid reports.

Additional info on the software updates Verizon is preparing for the DROID Incredible can be found on the carrier's dedicated support page here.

The availability of V CAST Apps on Verizon's Android-based mobile phones won't exclude the Android Market from the equation.

However, users would get access to both software portals at the same time, which should provide them with more options when it comes to downloading apps on their smartphones.

However, it is rather interesting to see that carriers decide to come up with their own application stores for Android devices, thus competing with Google's own portal.

Since the carrier states that DROID Incredible is the first Android phone to get V CAST Apps, other DROID handsets on its airwaves should soon receive it too, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
