Spinning around

DJ Hero 2 does not officially exist. At least that's what publisher Activision Blizzard is publicly saying. Despite this, a lot of people, including one Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick, have talked about the record spinning sequel, and now DJ Shadow, one of the music industry figures heavily involved with the first game in the series, has also confirmed that he is featured in DJ Hero 2.

Talking to Zane Lowe, one of the presenters at Radio One, DJ Shadow said, “I’m actually working on the next one as well. But yeah, it was a trip,” adding that the collaboration was a surprising one for him as well, “I never thought I’d be in a game, let alone doing what I was doing on the backhands, putting the mixes together.”

David Guetta, a well-known French DJ, has also stated publicly that he is working on some material that will be featured in DJ Hero 2. He said he got some play time with the series and that it's a pretty good approximation of the experience of a real life DJ. He also mentioned he could not play the game on the highest difficulty level.

A leaked document from retailer GAME suggested that DJ Hero 2 might be out in October 2010, in time for the Christmas shopping season. The title will probably use the same turntable peripheral as the first release in the series while expanding the number of tunes and mixes the player can access.

Activision is probably only planning to launch Guitar Hero 6 and DJ Hero 2 in the music simulation segment this year, with the market still reeling from an oversupply of music games coming in 2008 and 2009.

Here's a clip of DJ Shadow talking about his plans for the future and about DJ Hero 2:
