The final version of CyanogenMod 7.0 is now available for download for all supported devices, with the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread operating system included into the mix, and with a wide range of appealing features.

Among these, we can count support for even more devices than before, including tablet PCs powered by Android, and more.

The new release, a final and stable version of the software, comes after a series of beta and RC versions, which have been pushed out during the past several months.

“CM7 is based on the 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) release of Android from Google. We’ve added most of the great features from CM6 you know and love, and many new ones including support for several tablets. We are currently providing support for 30 devices,” the development team notes in a blog post.

The release represents the work of an entire community of people, who are continuously working on adding new features into the mix, and on making the software available for even more devices than before.

“It’s a never-ending work-in-progress so if you find a problem, please let us know on our issue tracker. There are a few CM6 features that aren’t part of CM7 yet, but they are in the queue for 7.1 already,” CyanogenMod states.

Those interested in installing the CM7 software on their devices should use the ROM Manager for that.

Before proceeding, users should be warned that the installation process for CM7 requires the rooting of their devices, which would result in voiding the warranty. Those who never performed the rooting process before should head to this page on the CM wiki to access detailed info on the matter.

“If you are upgrading from CM6, we recommend performing a backup with something like Titanium Backup and doing a full wipe before installing CM7,” the development team notes.
