The Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo for the PC arrived yesterday, but due to technical issues and because the MyCrysis website registration was down, I wasn't able to play it until today.

If you want a one-word description for the multiplayer of Crysis 2, it's 'paranoia', because you never know from where the enemy will appear.

In regular shooters, it's safe to say that you'll see an enemy from far away, probably on your own level or above/below, depending on the layout of the map.

In Crysis 2, the enemy can pop up from practically anywhere.

He may be sitting in the corner, with invisibility on, he may jump from above or below and crash into the ground or he may just use speed and run into you with a melee weapon or the butt of his rifle.

As such, it's hard to enjoy the beauty of Crysis 2's multiplayer maps because you're going to explore them filled with paranoia and constantly looking behind your back or in every dark corner for telltale signs that an enemy might be there.

You do have lots of special powers at your disposal to make life a living hell for others though, including invisibility, super jumps, speed or the special nano-vision, similar to heat sensitive goggles that highlight humans just like in the Predator movies.

All these powers seem like a bit much at first, and many people will no doubt feel confused about the array of abilities they can use.

Slowly but surely though, you get accustomed to it, and you'll be cloaking, getting on top of buildings and then crashing on enemies in no time.

The Crysis 2 multiplayer demo only has two maps, Skyline and Pier 17, but they're vast enough to keep players interested and the two modes, Team Instant Action (aka team deathmatch) and Crash Site (sort of like a King of the Hill mode), keep things varied enough until the launch of the full game.

Check out a video of my first few experiences with the Crysis 2 multiplayer below.
