For a few years now, computer power supply makers have struggled to see who can launch the highest rated units on the market, but the truth of the matter is that most desktops don't require the insane amounts of power provided by these PSUs, so Cooler Master tried to cater to its customers need by releasing a new 450W GX-series power supply unit.

According to the company, the GX 450W was built in order to offer high-grade features into a value aware package and targets casual users as well as budget gamers.

As for the PSU itself this is manufactured by Enhance and meets the 80PLUS standard requirements which means that its efficiency won't drop under the 80% mark, no matter the loads placed on the unit.

Cooler Master says this was achieved by using a double-layer EMI filter paired together with an intelligent 120mm controllable fan, and an active PFC/PWM combo controller.

As far as the power output of the GX 450W is concerned, the unit has a single 12V rail which is rated at 35A, that can provide up to 420W, and the OCP protection won't kick in until the system draws more than 540W.

Otherwise, the rest of the specifications of the Cooler Master PSU are rater basic as the units sports a single PCI Express 6-pin power connector, five SATA plugs and three Molex connectors.

On the other hand, a KitGuru review found that its performances are well in line with the company's claims, an the PSU even managed to win a Worth Considering award.

Finally, the most important selling point of the Cooler Master GX 450W is its price tag, as the unit has an MSRP of $49.99, which, all things considered, definitely makes it a good buy.
