Instead of targeting low-end customers, though, they reach for the top

Now that we've covered the low-end spectrum, or at least the market segment belonging to gamers that don't have super finances, we can check out some PSUs with more serious brawn.

What we mean is that Cooler Master has brought forth a set of power supply units that are meant to supply energy to particularly demanding PCs.

Granted, not the most demanding, since that realm is handled by PSUs of 1,000W or more.

Anyway, Cooler Master has formally launched the Extreme 2 series of PSUs, with outputs of 475W to 725W.

More precisely, there are Extreme 2 PSUs with ratings of 465W, 525W, 625W and 725W.

In that order, the prices are of $49.99, $54.99, $74.99 and $94.99, or 38.20 Euro, 42 Euro, 57.31 Euro and 72.60 Euro, respectively.

Prospective buyers will get a dual +12V rail system regardless of which unit they select.

Since we're on the subject of the specifications, it bears noting that the Extreme 2 Series have “world-class safeguards that consist of multiple over power protections which help prevent unfortunate home electrical issues from reaching your computer system’s vital components.”

OVP/UVP/OCP/OPP/OTP/SCP protections are all implemented, although PFC (power factor correction) is absent.

Still, Cooler Master tossed in 120mm fans (one in each PSU) and earned the units TUV / CE / UL / FCC / BSMI / GOST / C-tick / KC / CCC certifications.

Durable capacitors with heat resistance of up to 105℃ (221F) are just another entry on the list of relevant assets.

All in all, Cooler Master's Extreme 2 PSUs (the product page is found here) have everything they need to serve everyone on the mid-to-high-end gaming PC market segment.

Sales should have started yesterday (April 17, 2012), so prospective buyers need only drop by their local retailers to see whether or not luck shines down upon them.
