505 Games and Majesco have announced that they plan to release Cooking Mama 3 on the Nintendo DS handheld on October 27 in North America and on November 13 in Europe, hoping that the casual videogame manages to provide them with a hit in time for Christmas. The cooking title will be arriving on gaming devices earlier than ever and the developers are keen on showing off the three new game modes that it will contain.

"Let's Match" is designed to up the challenge of cooking recipes by introducing a list of ingredients from which the player needs to choose before actually getting to the cooking part by using techniques that they learned from other dishes. "Let's Shop" is a new type of mini game that diverts the gamer away from the cooking in order to task him with getting all the ingredients needed by raiding a supermarket, getting what is needed while avoiding other shoppers, various debris and helping with the check out process.

The last new mode unveiled is "Cooking Contest," only available in local multiplayer. Up to four players can use the Wi Fi connection of the Nintendo DS or DSi in order to see who is the fastest of them all in a variety of cooking challenges. Of course, apart from the new modes, Cooking Mama 3 also features the tried and true cooking challenges from the previous games, with the added possibility of saving a fail recipe section and with some minor changes regarding its look.

Cooking Mama was last in the news because of allegations from PETA that the videogame was promoting cruelty and killing of animals because of the domination of animal-based product recipes. Majesco has replied that there's a lot of vegetarian stuff in Cooking Mama and the third installment of the title will probably again prove a success with more casual games.
