Boston Police commissioner Ed Davis is giving details on the amount of ammunition and explosives found on the alleged Boston bombers, suggesting that they might have been planning a second attack.

“It’s my belief that they were already manufacturing explosive devices. Further violent acts were inevitable,” he said in a press conference, as relayed by the Telegraph.

Six IEDs have been recovered from the Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev's belongings, and officials mention finding a satchel bomb.

Moreover, police came across several grenades that had also been improvised, firearms, including a rifle and 250 rounds of ammo.

“There were over 250 rounds of extended ammunition that was found at the scene. This was a five- to 10-minute gun battle that occurred there, punctuated by loud explosions,” Davis says, according to News Oxy.

Davis clarifies that they believe the brothers were working alone and mentions no other details about plans on the second bombing.

“We have reason to believe, based upon the evidence that was found at that scene — the explosions, the explosive ordnance that was unexploded and the firepower that they had — that they were going to attack other individuals.

“As far as this little cell, this little group, goes, I think we got our guys,” he reassures the public.

As we have reported earlier, Dzhokhar has been captured and is currently being treated for gunshot wounds to the throat and leg at a hospital in Boston.

He has incurred critical injuries but has survived the weekend and, while unable to talk, he is communicating with the police in writing.

The head injury might have been self-inflicted, as officials describe the suspect as “slow and lethargic” after being found on a boat in Watertown on Friday.

“It's hard to know how he received that injury. That's being looked into,” Davis notes.
