Christina Hendricks is a gorgeous woman, despite the fact that she’s not what showbiz considers a “standard” size, meaning a size 0 or 2. This is just one of the topics she tackles in the November 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

Featured in a “bank heist” themed spread in the pages of the magazine, the curvaceous actress talks about anything and everything, from the attention she gets for her body shape and losing weight to how she met her husband.

At first, Christina was shocked about the amount of attention she would get for her curves, she reveals in the interview, especially since it came almost immediately after being told she needed to lose weight.

This is not a topic that the star shies away from, since she’s among the few female celebrities to denounce celebrity culture for being obsessed with weight and, most specifically, stick-thin girls and women.

“When the attention started to be about my figure, I was surprised, because it wasn’t something I was focused on,” Christina says of the media frenzy that started almost immediately with “Mad Men.”

“And then it became very positive, and people were saying very nice things. I’m just trying to be a good actress and trying to tell a story, but if this is the sidebar, all this positivity, then that is awesome,” says the actress.

As fans must know, Christina once worked as model – but then she gained some weight and, as she refused to lose it, she found people in the industry no longer wanted to work with her.

The same happened with her acting career, she admits: she was often pressured into being thinner but, while she appeared to agree to it, she would focus on finding beauty in how she was, without shedding a single pound.

“I remember thinking, You’re crazy! I said okay, but I didn’t do it. It seems that models have gotten smaller. I was a 4, but now they’re a 0 or 2,” Christina says of being pressured to be thinner.

“My mother never said to lose weight. Diets were never a big deal. My mom was always beautiful and voluptuous and curvy, and I always thought she was gorgeous,” the star adds.

Judging by the photospread included in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Christina too is absolutely gorgeous just as she is, voluptuous and curvy.
