Chinese officials sound like a broken record when it comes to cyberspace. During a visit to the US, Chang Wanquan, state councilor and defense minister of the People’s Republic of China, once again highlighted the fact that the country’s military had never supported hacker actions.

The official says cyber threats are a major problem all over the world, China being one of the major victims, People’s Daily reports.

According to Chang, China strongly opposes an arms race in cyberspace, and is against all hostile actions that rely on electronic communications.

“The Chinese government always firmly opposes and fights against cybercrimes accordingto law. The Chinese military has never supported any hacker actions,” he said.

Recently, the US and China have established a working group to address cyber security issues. The first meeting took place during the last China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
