The 80th anniversary of People's Liberation Army brings a special offer

Chinese mobile phone users will be able to view on their handsets a large number of military-themed video clips and information. The initiative comes as part of the celebration of the founding of the People's Liberation Army.

The army has always been considered as one of the most respected institutions in all countries. Patriotism now shows itself somewhat differently than in the past. Instead of joining the army, you can just put a soldier on the phone's wallpaper and keep up with the latest information on it.

China looks like a highly militarized country, now that the army has become a service to add to your mobile phone. The side effect could be that of taking this institution for a joke more than first intended. Another one would be that of taking it too seriously and give it the attention that only a war might cast on it.

China Unicom counts mainly on the high popularity of the army among the Chinese people. For this reason only, they expect it to be a highly profitable idea, although financial gaining is not the only reason for this initiative. The 80th anniversary of People's Liberation Army deserves all these efforts.

Still, the anniversary is set for one day, but the service will come for a monthly subscription, over a longer period of time. The database includes more than 300,000 pictures of weapons and military figures along with hundreds of movie clips. They show images from some of the most important wars in the history. Moreover, people will also have the opportunity of receiving military news straight from the army's newspaper.

The service will be available from now on to all subscribers to China Unicom, one of the two mobile operators in this country. People will have to agree to receive this type of information in exchange for a monthly fee of USD 1.
