ChevronWP7 Labs, the unlocking service meant to offer Windows Phone users the possibility to enjoy access to more resources on their devices, went live on Friday, and it seems that it already got updated over the weekend. A new version of the unlock client was made available for download, one that would not crash as the previous one. The new unlock client 0.3 will not deliver the “Connectivity issues” message anymore.

Apparently, the team behind this service has seen a great deal of requests regarding the unlocking of Windows Phones, and has decided to halt any new requests.

“We aren’t quite ready for new payments at the moment, so that will remain offline. Our focus is to unlock the paid user base — they’ve been super patient thus far and we appreciate it,” the team announced.

In addition to that, the team announced that the Unlock Utility has seen a nice range of enhancements in the latest update.

The release notes of its new flavor include:

- Resolved an issue in which certain Windows themes (e.g. Classic) would cause a crash. - Resolved an issue in which the client did not report unlock status in rare cases. - Decreased queue poll timer from 10 to 5 seconds. - Added custom messaging support, allowing us to force upgrades if/when needed. - Added a few more checks around our Zune socket code. - Altered dependency check messages to indicate the browser window will appear after you click the OK button. - Added a version number to the unlock view. Some other changes have been performed to the service as well, starting with the addition of a FAQ section to the ChevronWP7 Labs website and going all the way to a series of modifications to the backend.

For the time being, the team plans on monitoring the new roll-out and will deliver updates on how things evolve, so stay tuned for more on this.
