Charlie Sheen Sets Guinness World Record with Twitter Account

Charlie Sheen is #winning because he has #tigerblood, he says on Twitter. As far as the social network and his activity on it are concerned, the actor is really winning, having just set a new Guinness World Record.

Sheen is the only celebrity to have reached 1 million followers on Twitter in a little over 24 hours – and, what’s even more surprising, he managed to do this without as much as trying too hard.

Mashable reports that the record has been verified by Guinness and Sheen will be getting the recognition he deserves for such a feat.

As of now, he’s passed the 1.2 million followers threshold and he’s only tweeted 21 times, some of which are actually replies to what some of his famous friends have been writing to him.

“He has won a rare honor: the ‘Fastest Time to Reach 1 Million Followers’ Guinness World Record,” Mashable writes.

“Guinness community manager Dan Barrett says the agency ‘just researched and approved’ the record this morning. According to Barrett, Sheen reached that milestone in 25 hours 17 minutes,” the e-zine further says.

Sheen may have heard of it as well, though his take on how long it took him is a bit off, as one of his tweets of 12 hours ago confirms.

“In all sincerity... Thank you Twitter community for the warm reception & the followers that helped get me to 1M in 24 hours!!! #teamsheen” he writes.

“Guinness did not have had a previous record for that category, Barrett says. Sheen also set a Guinness record for ‘Highest Paid TV Actor Per Episode – Current” at $1.25 million,” Mashable reports.

An explanation for why Sheen is suddenly so popular with everybody, regardless of whether they are fans of his (former) sitcom “Two and a Half Men” or not, is to be found in the series of odd and rambling interviews he’s been giving for many days now.

With his personal life allegedly spiraling out of control and amidst talk that he’s suffering from a mental disorder that makes him act like this, chances are good that his Twitter followers will increase over the course of the next hours.
