Konami, the publisher of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, has confirmed that it will be releasing a patch for the PlayStation 3 version of the title, after many users reported save game problems.

The Castlevania franchise has finally managed to transition into 3D successfully, after making history in the 2D realm, through a lot of side scrolling titles, but it seems that there are a few problems with the new game.

According to quite a few reports from those that bought the PlayStation 3 version of Lords of Shadow, the title's save game system would usually corrupt their own files, meaning that they had to start the game from the beginning.

This was made worst by the fact that the game only allowed one single save game slot, so once that was corrupted, gamers were out of luck.

Xbox 360 users also encountered this problem, but even with the corrupt save game warning, the game still managed to read it, and start from where it left off.

Now, after seeing the new reports, Konami has confirmed that it is working on a patch for the save game system for the PS3 edition, and that things will return to normal soon enough.

According to Konami's Twitter account, a "patch for the PS3 save issue affecting Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is incoming."

Expect the fix to be implemented into a patch in the following weeks, but given the fact that it needs to pass testing and approval processes with Sony to be released on the PlayStation Network, gamers still need to wait until they can safely play the new Castlevania title.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has proven to be quite successful in the few weeks since it was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and, according to a recent leak from the game's developer, Mercury Steam, a sequel is already in development.

The title was developed by the Spanish studio under the guidance of Kojima Productions and published by Konami.
