14 DAY TRIAL // It appears that Verizon Wireless plans to release the major Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Casio G'Zone Commando rugged smartphone.
According to the guys over at DroidLife, via tipster, the G'Zone Commando Android smartphone is scheduled to receive the software update C771M07O in the near future.
Although no release date has been specified, the update may go live any day now since the change log has already leaked in the wild.
Aside bringing Casio's G'Zone Commando firmware to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the update is said to provide several improvements and bug fixes, as well as new features.
New call features will be available, as the phone's screen will brighten upon touch when is docked during a voice call. In addition, the proximity sensor accurately senses presence during a voice call.
As soon as users download and install the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread, they will be able to enable the auto signature function within SMS / MMS messages.
Furthermore, users who reported an unusual bug that generated a draft message when opening a message will be happy to know that the update corrects this issue.
Additional changes introduced with the latest update include reduced device lag and V CAST Media Manager application, which will be pre-loaded on the phone.
It is also worth mentioning that the Privacy Caution screen will now appear during the Setup Wizard.
The update is likely to be pushed OTA (over the air) in the next several days, but the list of changes may contain more or less new features and bug fixes.
Currently, Verizon Wireless deploys Android 2.3 Gingerbread for HTC Thunderbolt, which will probably take around 3-5 days.
