Kimberly Peirce’s remake brings Stephen King’s classic novel to modern times

Whether you like the idea of Hollywood remakes or not, if you’re a fan of the horror genre, my guess is you won’t be missing “Carrie,” starring Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore as telekinetic daughter and religious and unhinged mother.

The first official trailer for the remake, directed by Kimberly Peirce, has been released and, as usual, you can see it in full above.

You could say it comes with spoilers but that would mean ignoring the fact that pretty much everyone on this planet knows how “Carrie” ends.

Decades after Brian de Palma wrote film history with his take on the Stephen King novel, Peirce surely has her work cut out for her: remake of cult classics come with enough pressure not to add to it with the heavy name of de Palma.

However, even so, I have faith that actresses as talented as Moretz and Moore will be able to compensate for whatever “flaw” fans will find with the film.

“Carrie” drops in October.
