Last week, the Game Developers Conference offered us many pieces of news related to upcoming games and services like OnLive. But this was also the time when the ESRB, the commission in charge of rating games for the territory of the United States, revealed new classifications, including two very interesting ones, Call of Duty and Wolfenstein 3D.

The two historical games shown to be heading to the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, as they have been classified at the request of Activision and id Software. They will most certainly be available as digital downloads, but whether or not we will be dealing with remakes or completely new titles is still unconfirmed by the two companies.

The original Call of Duty developed by Infinity Ward never appeared on consoles, as the studio focused its efforts on the PC release, in 2003. Since then, the franchise gained a huge momentum and is now the blockbuster that we see, spawning a new franchise in the form of Modern Warfare.

Wolfenstein 3D on the other hand, is even older, being first released for DOS in 1992, and then ported to various consoles and other devices like the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the GameBoy Advanced, and, most recently, to Apple's iPhone. It brought a lot of popularity to the FPS genre on PCs and will certainly bring back many memories if it appears on XBLA and PSN.

All in all, these titles will certainly be two very welcomed additions to the arcade games collection of quite a lot of gamers. Hopefully, more details will arrive soon about the pricing and when we will be able to see these games. Perhaps Infinity Ward and id Software will even throw in fresh things.
