Activision has finally confirmed when Call of Duty Elite premium subscribers on the PlayStation 3 platform can get their hands on the first pieces of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3, after breaking sales records, just saw the release of its first two “content drops” last month, consisting of two downloadable maps that were launched on the Xbox 360 platform for Call of Duty Elite premium subscribers.

Now, after keeping Elite members who had PlayStation 3 consoles in the dark, the company has finally confirmed when they’ll get their hands on the two free maps.

According to Activision, both Liberation and Piazza will be released on the PlayStation Network on February 28, kicking off the Modern Warfare 3 content season on the Sony console.

In case you forgot about these two maps, check out their full descriptions below.

Call of Duty Elite Drop 1: Liberation, a militarized Central Park in the heart of NYC, features a vast landscape ripe for long-range sniper and LMG kills. Mounted turrets on opposing ends of the map offer overwhelming firepower to anyone brave enough to man them.

Call of Duty Elite Drop 2: Piazza, set in an idyllic seaside village, Italian getaway gone rogue, where blind corners and a complex network of branching pathways pose danger at every turn. Visceral close-quarters combat dominates in Piazza, and attacks from above and below are an ever-constant threat.

After these two maps are released for Call of Duty Elite premium members on the PlayStation 3, Activision is expected to finally launch them for non-premium subscribers on platforms like the Xbox 360, PS3 and even the PC.

After that, Activision will continue with the content release schedule unveiled last month. Until then, however, Elite members with free subscriptions will have to make due with the regular maps included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 regular multiplayer mode.

Check out some fresh screenshots of the two downloadable maps below.
