All you have to do is make the universal “call me” sign

Not two weeks ago I said that Bluetooth Smart technology would power lots of watches, bracelets, hats and even gloves from 2014 onwards.

It turns out that we don't have to wait until 2014 for the gloves after all. Granted, the Call Me Gloves from Hammacher Schlemmer ($80/€58.51) don't use Bluetooth Smart, only normal Bluetooth.

It's more than enough for their purpose though, which is to take calls without you having to remove your smartphone from your pocket.

If you receive a call, just lift your hand in the universal “call me” sign, with your thumb to your ear and your pinkie towards your mouth, the rest of your fingers folded.

The thumb has a speaker, while the pinkie has a microphone. As for actually answering the calls, there are buttons on your cuff for that. For ending them too. The speaker will last for 12 hours of talk time.

Finally, you can also text and web surf on the phone (or tablet) without taking the gloves off, thanks to conductive fibers woven into the top of both thumb and index fingers.
