Buffalo Technology has just announced the introduction of a new Wireless N compatible USB adapter that promises to deliver some impressive transfer speeds as well as improved range when connected to 802.11n compatible networks.

Small enough to fit inside your pocket, Buffalo’s USB dongle can reach, at least in theory THAT IS, speeds up to 450Mbps by using 3x3 spacial streams.

Outside of the high transfer speed support, Buffalo’s latest creation also features support for the company’s AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS) technology, which lets you create a secure wireless connection with the push of a button.

AOSS automatically detects and configures other AOSS enabled devices and seamlessly creates the most secure connection possible.

Other features include multi-level Wireless Security Support (WPA2 (TKIP, AES), WPA-PSK (TKIP, AES), and WEP (128/64-bit), backwards compatibility with 802.11g, Wi-Fi Protected Setup support and a 10cm flexible extender cable. Power is drawn from the USB 2.0 port that the Buffalo dongle is installed in.

"Video streaming, file sharing, gaming and downloading of music and files wirelessly is now the norm for most internet users,” said Paul Hudson, Sales Director for Northern Europe at Buffalo Technology.

“As such, the demand for a high performance, stable wireless internet connection is vital.

“The AirStationTM N450 Wireless N-Adapter is capable of 450Mb/s, and considering most people will using between 150Mb/s - 300Mb/s, this is a great development for the wireless market," concluded the company’s rep.

Sadly, Buffalo hasn’t provided us with any info regarding the price and availability of its AirStation N450 Wireless-N adapter (product code WLI-UC-G450).

In related news, Buffalo has announced that it has increased the warranty period on its AirStation product range to 3 years, starting immediately.
