The Sylvester Stallone written and directed “The Expendables,” in which the legendary actor also plays the male lead, is scheduled for release for April 2010, but it seems that there are more surprises to come than fans initially anticipated. Bruce Willis has joined the already impressive cast, as the actor himself confirms for MTV.

As fans must know, it has often been stressed that, if Stallone does this movie right, his place in cinema history is guaranteed – not that it isn’t already without it, just that he now has the opportunity to do truly something spectacular that would prove to the entire world just how wrong they’ve misjudged him. With a cast that includes only A-listers of the action genre, from Stallone himself to Governor Schwarzenegger and Mickey Rourke, and a script of which they say it’s the meanest, most adrenaline-packed one ever, “The Expendables” has just gotten better with the Bruce Willis addition as well.

“They are three legends of the silver screen. Separately, they’ve made dozens of films that have had a huge impact on the lives of moviegoers. Fans have been wanting to see them unite on screen for decades. Now, the trio are finally planning to make a movie together. ‘I want to send best wishes to Sly,’ Bruce Willis said with a grin when we spoke with him last week. ‘And the Governor of California, my old pal Arnold.’ The ‘Die Hard’ star confirmed to MTV News that he is leaving time open on his schedule to shoot a cameo for ‘The Expendables,’ the ultra-violent, star-studded action flick written/directed by and starring Sylvester Stallone.” MTV writes.

Stallone is said to be putting the finishing touches on the film as we speak. Other stars that fans will see in it, aside from the trio already mentioned and Mickey Rourke, are Jason Statham, Jet Li, Forest Whitaker, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Danny Trejo. Willis’ scene has not yet been shot, the actor tells MTV, as he’s waiting for a phone call from Stallone with the details. The good news is though that he can confirm whatever it will be, it will include all three stars in front of the camera in the same scene.

“Not yet, I haven’t united with them. I’m waiting for a call from Sly about when we’re going to try and make that happen. I don’t know anything about [my character] yet, haven’t seen any pages yet. But I’m excited about it.” Willis further explains for the same media outlet. As we also informed you, “The Expendables,” centering on the story of a group of mercenaries come to overthrow a South American dictator, is out in theaters on April 23, 2010.
