Good Old Games, the digital distribution platform created and maintained by CD Projekt, is announcing that it plans to add two games from the Broken Sword series to its already extensive line up. Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror and Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon will be offered to gamers who are interested in classic adventure titles for the very low price of 5.99 dollars.

The games are tested by the CD Projekt team in order to make sure that they are playable on standard configurations of both Windows XP and Windows Vista. They titles, as delivered through digital download, are not encumbered by any Digital Rights Management measures.

On GOG, players can also get two other Revolution Software titles, Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress and there are other adventure titles that might soon show up on the service.

Adam Oldakowski, who is the managing director of GOG, declared that “The Broken Sword series is another great addition to our ever growing games catalogue. The games offer beautiful graphics and, most of all, great stories that will keep you glued to your computer for hours. We're very happy to welcome Revolution Software to our site. We're grateful they agreed to add their freeware games to our catalogue – which have done very well – and I believe that the Broken Sword series will be as popular on GOG.com as the two free games.”

Good Old Games is a very interesting idea because it aims to offer new generations of gamers a chance to play those classic titles that have shaped the videogaming experiences of older players. Games like the Broken Sword series are no longer available in most stores and the developer is more than happy to offer them at a significantly reduced price in digital form. The fact that GOG is also making sure that they run on current systems is an added bonus.
