Brightstar, the largest wireless distribution and supply chain solutions provider company in the world, announced its plans to expand operations into Europe through a joint venture with Tech Data, a distributor of IT products, with more than 90,000 customers in over 100 countries. The joint venture, which will be named Brightstar Europe, will maintain operations in 16 countries and will be capable of shipping products within 24 hours of order anywhere in Europe.

According to Brightstar, the addition of the European market will complete the company's global infrastructure plan to extend its presence on six continents in order to provide the largest wireless industry distribution network in the world. Via this network, Brightstar will solidify its global leadership, becoming the only distribution organization that has the capability to launch a product, worldwide, simultaneously. This global reach will also allow Brightstar to be in the most markets, providing localized support through its in-country teams and 68 facilities in 48 countries. This localized approach allows Brightstar to better serve and support customers, and quickly capitalize on market opportunities as they arise.

"The launch of Brightstar Europe with Tech Data will bring the long-term vision for Brightstar to reality. With our global reach, we can provide broader and deeper wireless distribution support than any other wireless distribution organization in the world and be able to launch products simultaneously all over the world. Our infrastructure ensures we can be close to our customers, wherever they are located," said R. Marcelo Claure, president, CEO and Chairman of Brightstar. "Now, our focus will be on delivering more products and improved solutions to every wireless operator, manufacturer, retailer and dealer that we serve. We are moving towards that goal with this joint venture with Tech Data."

Brightstar Europe will be headquartered in the United Kingdom and will have access to 10 logistics centers and 16 sales offices across Europe. The company is expected to commence operations in March.
