Tamerlan Tsarnaev is dead and his younger brother, Dzhokhar, is now in hospital in critical condition. They are suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings, but their mother Zubeidat insists that they were set up.

ABC News spoke to the mother of the two suspects and learned that she and her husband plan to travel to the US to see their surviving son and the body of the dead one.

They don’t believe what they hear about the terrorist attacks they planned, or the chase they engaged police in, telling the reporter that they are being somehow “set up” by the US government to look like terrorists.

However, in 2011, Tamerlan was the object of an FBI investigation.

“I lost two sons. My family is in the dirt,” she says.

Regardless of their plans or their suffering as parents, coming to the US right now could be impossible, ABC points out: as parents of suspected terrorists, they won’t be able to obtain a passport and a US visa.
