Analyst firm Frost & Sullivan named Boost Mobile, the prepaid division of Sprint Corporation, the 2009 North American Prepaid Mobile Service of the Year today. The company will receive the award at the Frost & Sullivan’s Mobile & Wireless Awards Banquet. As many of you might already know, the operator has seen impressive growth since it launched the $50 'Monthly Unlimited' service plan.

Boost Mobile has successfully evolved into a total communications service provider in the North American prepaid wireless market, especially with the launch of its groundbreaking Monthly Unlimited plan,” said Brent Iadarola, global research director from Frost & Sullivan. “The company is poised to strengthen its market leadership position by leveraging a mix of high-quality service offerings, extensive retail operations and economical and transparent pricing. The 2009 award for North American Prepaid Mobile Service of the Year is presented to Boost Mobile in recognition of its impressive performance in this segment and is an acknowledgement of its strong growth potential.”

On the other hand, it seems that the exponential growth seen by the company has also caused some problems for its customers, as numerous reports point towards long delays for the delivery of text messages, caused by the influx of new customers willing to enjoy the carrier’s no-limit calling and text message plan. According to the news, some of the delays were even 9 hours long, and various users already started to complain about the text message service.

According to John Votava, Boost Mobile will increase capacity deployments and software upgrades to the iDEN network until May 7, a move that will allow it to enhance messaging and other services it offers to its customers. It seems that the operator was not prepared for the amount of text messages that its users would send, given the fact that they come at no additional cost with the plan, yet now we learn that it is moving towards increasing the data capacity of the network, and that users will soon be able to see enhancements in the services that are offered to them.

The 2009 award for North American Prepaid Mobile Service of the Year comes to Boost Mobile due to the fact that the company is offering its customers multiple plans, with no hidden fees, so as to fulfill their needs in the best way. The 'Monthly Unlimited' plan offers unlimited nationwide talk, text and multimedia messaging as well as wireless Web and nationwide Walkie-Talkie services for only $50 per month, with no additional Telecom Taxes, activation, roaming, traveling or long-distance fees.

“Frost & Sullivan believes that this aggressive pricing strategy is the need of the hour and will allow Boost Mobile to expand its offerings beyond the youth segment, to all value-seeking customers, which should yield impressive results for the company in 2009,” Iadarola said.
