He has superbark

Disney Interactive is announcing that it is planning to develop and distribute a videogame based on its upcoming animated movie called Bolt. In true film-to-game fashion, Bolt is coming to all the gaming platforms that are out there, with versions planned for the PC, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 2, the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS. The only thing that puzzles me is why the PlayStation Portable has been left out.

The story of the movie, which is very likely to be the same in the videogame, focuses on a dog named Bolt. The canine is the star of one TV show in which he uses his extraordinary powers to stop evil, but his career is cut short when, by accident, he is shipped from sunny Hollywood to gloomy New York City. Determined not to let this be the end of his stardom, Bolt embarks on an epic journey which takes him back home and, along the way, helps him discover he really has special powers. John Travolta is set to be the voice of Bolt in the animated film, and chances are he might take up the role again for the game.

The game is being developed by Avalanche Software, which worked on Tak and Meet the Robinsons, and Altron, that is doing the DS version. The game will feature five international cities, including one in Russia and Italy. Bolt will get to play around with superpowers like laser vision, something called "superbark," stealth and hacking skills.

Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing at Disney, stated: "Bolt uses the film as a springboard, expanding upon the action and dynamic story elements, to provide a fun, challenging experience for gamers. With Bolt, Avalanche Software looks to further its reputation as a premier developer of compelling animated games for a broad audience."
