Boingo Gets Contract with KT for for Global Wi-Fi Access

KT customers can access Bingo's Wi-Fi hotspots

The biggest Korean carrier KT, and Boingo Wireless, one of the major Wi-Fi worldwide service providers, announced their new signed agreement that gives KT customers access to more than 125,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide through Boingo's service platform. As part of the agreement, the Korean operator will receive rebranded versions of Boingo's Wi-Fi software for Windows-based laptops and smartphones. Boingo's software provides quick access to more than 171 networks worldwide.

“Our customers have become accustomed to Wi-Fi wherever they go within the country, and have begun requesting this same availability outside Korea,” said Kim Hoon-bae, vice president of the Messaging/Roaming Business Department for KT. “Given the ubiquity and quality of Boingo’s global network, as well as the simplicity of one-click access via the Boingo software, this partnership brings exceptional value to KT customers.”

KT operator provides about 27,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in South Korea, but also offers coverage in about 98 countries. The carrier chose Boingo to provide its mobile customers with global Wi-Fi roaming services, using the Boingo Roaming Network.

Boingo is one of the leaders in providing Wi-Fi Internet access solutions through hotspots worldwide. Its current and former Platform Services Partners include Alltel, BT Infonet, EarthLink, Fiberlink, KT, Nextel, Orange France, Skype, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Verizon and Wireless G.
